Mae Mental Wellness Current Patient FAQs

  • If you are having an emergency, please call 911, call 988 (the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline), or text HOME to 741741 (the Crisis Text Hotline). Our providers want to support our patients to the best of our abilities. Mae Mental Wellness is an outpatient telehealth setting only available during specific hours.

  • Mae Mental Wellness promotes the concept of ease of access to mental health services via a hybrid telepsychiatry model. Audio and video are required for telepsychiatry via our HIPAA compliant platform. There may be situations in which an in-person visit is necessary, per regulatory requirements. If this is the case, this will be discussed between you and your provider, and more information will be provided at the time as to how this requirement will be met.

  • The DEA has specific regulatory requirements for those receiving controlled medications via telehealth. These regulations are updated frequently. These requirements are put in place for your safety and well-being. For specific controlled substances, either an in person assessment and evaluation needs to be performed by your provider at Mae Mental Wellness, or you can have a referral sent over by your primary care provider (PCP) or local in person provider, which confirms that you have had an in person assessment and evaluation. This is an ever-changing process, and your provider will keep you updated of any changes or requirements.

  • Mae Mental Wellness ensures the interaction between the patient and provider is completely private, secure and HIPAA compliant. The telecommunications software encrypts all forms of data, including video and audio. Our texting platform is HIPAA compliant and private on our providers’ end.

  • Yes, Mae Mental Wellness providers can prescribe controlled substances when clinically appropriate. If this becomes part of your treatment plan, your provider will walk you through any specific requirements, including those set by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), which regulates controlled substance prescriptions via telehealth. You're never on your own to figure this out; your provider will guide you every step of the way.

  • Mae Mental Wellness can complete forms upon request. There is a $40 fee for completion of any forms and a 7-day turnaround time for forms to be completed. You may bring forms to your appointment and they can also be completed on the day of your appointment for no additional fee.

  • No. We are not able to provide Emotional Support Animal letters at this time.

  • Mae Mental Wellness can provide basic talk therapy during our medication management visits. For more in-depth psychotherapy styles, we can provide you with a referral(s), upon request.

  • Yes, Mae Mental Wellness does have translation services available. It is best to know about this ahead of time so that appropriate translation services can be provided. It is best practice for a professional translation service translates, instead of a family member or friend, so that there is no information lost in translation. Please contact us ahead of time at contact@maementalwellness.com if you would like to be seen, but need a translator present. We will be happy to accommodate.

  • For Mae Mental Wellness to share any personal health information with another party, a release of protected health information form must be completed by the patient and verbal consent must be obtained from the patient. Please complete the HIPAA Release Form, under the 'Forms' link and send to your provider via the patient portal. Alternately, you can share your information on your own, via the information located in your patient portal. There are a few exceptions, in which a provider may share protected health information without consent. Please see the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services regulations regarding this, if you have any questions.

  • If you are unhappy with your care, please communicate your grievance in writing to contact@maementalwellness.com

  • A parent or legal guardian must be present with any patient under 18 for their initial intake appointment and must provide consent for any medication changes at future appointments.
